My home honey-do list includes
- Tranistioning from running the air conditioner or just before beginning to heat your home again a good rule of thumb is to change the air filters in your home.
- Testing and replacing old or damaged fire dectectors and adding or replacing carbon monoxide detectors.
- Finishing the bathroom remodel. Painting (inspo + tips) our bathroom and bathroom cabinets. We already installed
the new tub, shower tile and floor tile. (I can’t wait to share it with you when it’s complete).
Home Tips For Winter – Checklist
- Prepare for cold weather by not letting cold air seep into the home. Install door seals/door sweeps and for the windows installing weatherstripping and window installation kits.
- Wrap water heaters. By using a water heater blanket, it will help maintain heat and keep consistent water temperature.
- Seal gaps and cracks around window casings with chaulking.
- Add or replace damaged insulation to the home, if needed. (Mice, rats, squirrels and other rodents can damage insulation).
- Wrap outdoor pipes to keep them from freezing!
- Get and install a programmable thermostat. Save on energy bills up to 12% heating (and saves 15% on cooling).
- Change the air filters in your home.
- Test and replacing old or damaged fire dectectors and adding or replacing carbon monoxide detectors.
- Get a generator for powe routages.
- Have one non electrical heat source for power outages such as a this best selling indoor kerosene heater.
- Check your outdoor lighting. Update or replace outdoor lighting.
- Get up on the roof or call someone to check for damaged or warped roof shingles before you get a leak.
- Clean out your rain gutters. As the leaves fall, keep up on keeping your rain gutters free of debris.
- Salt walkways and/or porches as needed before freezing temps.
- Prepare or buy an emergency kit.
