How to make jelly bean cupcakes
Make your cupcakes! If you make vanilla cupcakes you need to separate the yolk from the egg whites. See the image above for cupcake steps. To do this use an egg separator. Or like this cute egg separator. I’ve had mine for years and years. Scoop your cupcakes into your lined cupcake pans. Bake your cupcakes until done and let them cool.
Next take out the inside of the cupcake with your cupcake corer. Reserve the inside of your cupcakes. What I like about my corer is that it comes with a corer for mini cupcakes. I have had this baking tool a few years too. I hand wash it to keep it nice.
Tip: if you want your hole larger use a small serrated knife and cut long the edges but, do NOT go deeper. Be sure to keep cut away cupcake to refill the top. You will have to use more frosting to cover the hole. Piping will be the best way to cover the top if you choose to make a larger hole.
Cupcake Ideas
Then add your choice of colored jelly beans into the cupcake hole. (For baby reveal cupcakes use pink or blue jelly beans inside the cupcakes for your reveal!) (For birthday parties and celebrations match your theme colors)
For gender reveal ideas you can top the cupcakes with pink and blue frosting to create your pink and blue gender reveal cupcakes!
I decorated mine for a spring birthday but, these could also be used for Easter cupcakes or Mother’s Day cupcakes.
After you have filled the cupcakes with jelly beans add the tops back onto the cupcakes, covering the jelly beans.
Scoop a tablespoon or more of frosting to the top and begin to frost your cupcakes. Covering the top and cut lines. It can be as simple or festive as you like. On this day I opted for simple.
