Have you ever been to the specialty cheese section in your grocery store or Whole Foods Market and wondered, what cheese to purchase? You look at the various sizes, pricing and wonder will it taste good?

Taste is always my first thought. If I’m spending money on anything, including a good cheese I want to make sure my guests or family will enjoy every last bite. I never experiment with guests. I try my recipes and cheeses in advance, then make or purchase for when I am entertaining. Do you enjoy tasting cheeses or cooking with cheeses too?

Food Review Saint Angel French Artisan Cheese plus tips for making a cheese boards

The first of the two kinds of cheese I tried was the Saint Angel’s which is made in the Côtes du Rhô ne area of southeast France. It’s a cheese that when you cut into it, it has a bit of texture. But, when you bite into it the cheese has a mild, smooth buttery taste. Oh, my this is an amazing cheese! I paired my cheese with Milton’s Everything Crackers. They are a baked cracker with non-GMO. Perfection! Just add a beverage and you are sure to enjoy.

  • Heavenly texture puts it at the top of the triple cream category
  • This cheese has a delicate, bloomy, white rind cheese offers a hint of mushroom-like flavor that becomes richer with age
  • Beneath the rind, a rich and luscious ivory paste is unveiled
  • Its flavor is buttery with a hint of tang

This cheese pairs well with crisp white wines or sparkling champagne and is the perfect addition to any cheese platter. It’s also great spread on grilled-rustic bread or as a gourmet treat served with ripe summer berries. Incorporate it into your favorite macaroni and cheese recipe, or use it to prepare an over-the-top grilled cheese sandwich.

Its sister cheese is the Saint Géric.

I am a huge blue cheese fan. I even love to have blue cheese melted over a good lean hamburger in the summer. I’ve tried an assortment of blue cheese but, this was one of the smoothest, lovely tasting cheeses that I’ve tasted!! You will savor every bite on your tongue. There are no words to describe it’s perfection. Although, Saint Géric does pretty much sum it up below!

  • Saint Géric, is a wonderful alternative to the strong pungent blue cheeses we know so well
  • It combines a triple crème and blue cheese
  • Rich and creamy with a subtle blue flavor that lingers on the palate and slowly melts in your mouth
  • Made in Pelussin in the Rhone Alpes region, this sublime square-shaped cheese is filled with buttery goodness and streaked with ethereal veins of blue

Spread this creamy blue over a sliced loaf of raisin walnut bread at the start or end of a meal and pair with a glass of your favorite bubbly, or try it on a grilled slice of whole-grain bread with bacon and heirloom tomatoes. It’s also great stuffed into a burger or melted atop your favorite steak.

Remember when I stuffed my jalapenos and cooked them into my Jalapeno Burger Recipe. Now, I’m going to try using this cheese to create and try it stuffed. Oh, yum!
