Simmer Pot Ingredients

Ingredients

• 1 orange, sliced
• 1 lemon, sliced
• 1 lime, sliced
• 4-6 cinnamon sticks
• 1 teaspoon whole cloves
• 1 teaspoon allspice berries
• Sprig of fresh rosemary

You can easily omit ingredients and create variations of this Christmas Potpourri. To vary the recipe use ingredients such as; star anise, vanilla bean, cranberries, nutmeg, and apple cider…

If you don’t like cloves try dried bay leaves for a more woodsy scent or thyme for a more herbal scent.

Potpourri Simmer Pot

Directions

1. Combine the ingredients in a pot or simmer pot like this.
2. Add water to the pot. Use enough water to cover the ingredients and prevent the pot from boiling dry.
3. Simmer over a low heat and enjoy the Christmas fragrance!

Never leave the simmering pot unattended!

Simmer Pot Tips

• You can reuse the simmer pot ingredients more than once.
• If the scent has weakened add a few more slices of the citrus fruits and cinnamon sticks.
• Monitor the water level. Top it off and add more water to the pot as needed to ensure it doesn’t boil dry (run out of water).
• If the scent goes bad or you see mold discard it and start with a fresh batch of potpourri for the simmer pot.
• Limit the reuse to 2-3 times.
• You can store it in a clean mason jar with a lid if needed.
