Felt Doll Supplies and Materials Checklist

• Felt Fabric (colored, soft felt)
• Pencil and Craft Scissors I like these smaller ones for craft projects like this, and cutting paper and intricate patterns…
• Craft Glue
• Cotton, Poly-cotton stuffing, or Scrap felt
• Sewing Needle
• Sewing Threads are my fav are a bit more expensive but high quality! Or these Sewing Threads would be good too.
• Sewing Scissors for cutting the felt.
• Sharpie(s)

How To Make the DIY Felt Red Riding Hood Doll (mini doll/puppet)

Step-by-Step Instructions: Assembling the Felt Doll

Cutting Out The Pieces

1. Print out the template(s) and pick felt fabric for the felt dolls/puppets. Trace the patterns on the selected felt fabrics and cut them out with sewing scissors. The template includes: the patterns for Little Red Riding Hood, Grandmother, and the Wolf. Start with Little Red Riding Hood.

Assembly and Stitching the Mini Doll

1. Place the hair cutout on the top part of the head cutout.

Sewing The Little Red Riding Hood Doll

When sewing the felt pattern pieces together by hand use a running stitch and or whip stitch, or – stitch when assembling and sewing the pieces.

1. Place the head (along with the hair) cutout on the hoodie pattern cutout.
2. Stitch the hair's outer edge and the head's outer edge to the hoodie.
3. Place the cape pattern on the front/top base cutout.
4. Place the front base on the back base cutout, on the bottom part.
5. Now, place the hoodie pattern (head and hair) on the top part of the back base. The front patterns (hoodie and cape-dress) should slightly overlap. Stitch along the side to join the front parts with the back base.
6. Stitch the parts around the sides, but keep a small opening for the stuffing.
7. Use poly-cotton stuffing, cotton, or scrap felt to stuff the (felt) Little Red Riding Hood doll/puppet.
8. Once the stuffing is done, close the opening with stitches.
9. Tie a knot or 2 and cut off the extra thread.

Adding the Face Details

1. Use a black or brown fine-tip Sharpie or Fine-Tipped Permanent Marker to draw the face of the felt Red Riding Hood doll/puppet.
2. Use craft glue to attach the basket cutout from the project pattern.
3. Similarly, trace, cut out, and stitch the patterns to craft the grandmother and wolf felt doll/puppets.
