Easy DIY Home Decor Mix & Match Modern with Magnolia Market Style is captured by the Gaines of Fixer Upper. I know many of you must be fans. We sure are. I miss my old fixer upper farm house that set on several acres. Now that I live in a modern home in wine country. One of my biggest challenges is was bringing in my farm house decor, vintage finds and hand me downs into my modern home.

Today I’m sharing how you can infuse items mixing and matching home decor styles. You’ll be able to in your home even if your on a budget. Joanna Gaines does it flawlessly. To watch the end result of the Gaines show Fixer Upper equals a decor heaven. They have set the trend on fire.

Mix & Match Modern Magnolia Style

Some of the ways we have mixed and matched styles since moving over 10 years ago is to take vintage furniture and use the pieces in non traditional ways. Example taking our vintage dresser and making it into a kitchen island.

You don’t need to go that far to incorporate the Magnolia style into your home. Wire baskets with see grass handles are a great example of adding storage or organization to your home and incorporating the mix of styles.

Taking a modern lamp like this glass tear drop lamp that you might even own and grabbing floral, country or vintage home decor fabrics and covering your lamp shades. You might even consider painting the lamp base with chalk paint or even just the base edge.

The vintage tea cart has made a come back. Find one to re-purpose or purchase a galvanized steel  bar cart. Add your bar items along with a vase full of fresh flowers or greenery. If you have vintage bar ware that has been handed down add a few pieces to your cart.

Beeswax candles various sizes and colors

On your fireplace mantel or in a galvanized steel tray make an arrangement of natural beeswax pillar candles. Even unlit this can add to the mix and match style. You can purchase these all natural or in colors. Another way is to get smaller candles and add them to glass pairing them on a side table.
