Trim Healthy Mama Meal Plan and Cookbook Review
Wouldn’t it be wonderful as women not to have to buy into fad diets, and just be able to cook healthy recipes while maintaining or losing weight? For me I didn’t battle with my weight until after I had my fifth child. Then it’s been a roller coaster of up, down and up again. Of course aging, moving to a climate that is so very hot or cold depending on the season doesn’t help. As women I’m sure we have all experienced wanting to be healthier or lose weight. Recently I had the chance to try the Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook and Plan with my mom’s group.
We had a consensus that the media’s focus is too hyper critical on youth and weight. But, we all agreed that finding a healthier “me” was important. Finding solutions can be hard. If you are trying to lose weight cooking separate meals isn’t the answer. Because honestly aint nobody got time for that! With this cookbook you can cook for everyone.
Meal Plan
Trim Healthy Mama Meal Plan and Cookbook Review
The premise of the Healthy Mama Plan is not to restrict but, to fuel. Which is great as anytime I start to restrict and go back to normal eating I’d personally tend to not eat healthy. Not, good! But, then I notice if I just watch what I eat, along with portions I do so much better. What about you?
Meal Plan Weight Loss Concept:
In the plan the focus is on Satisfying and Energizing. (S)= Fats and (E)=Carbs, S and E Meals. Both are weight loss meals. With S meals the focus is on protein sources, such as chicken breast…. Using proteins according to the book are like using a weapon in weight loss. Protein rich meals help us lose weigh. (Concept seems easy enough)
Next the plan focuses on rounding out the meals, with fuel pulls (FP). This is the start of the basic principals of the plan. Hunger, portions control ruts, hormones and bad days are all covered.
Meal Planning Recipes in the Cookbook
Throughout the cookbook I can see the recipes are using coconut oil, yogurt, lean ground meats. Which is great and healthy alterative ingredients that are easily found. But, I must admit some of the recipes call for Trim Healthy Mama Baking Blend. They have a You Tube channel and share about the Trim Healthy Mama Baking Blend.
I love to bake but, have to admit I didn’t try the Baking Blend or other products. And I’m not sure that I will try it. What’s it all about? Basically, gluten-free, low glycemic baking mix. Again, this part of the cookbook isn’t useful unless you already use products like this or are willing to buy to use them, or want to make those recommended changes. (This is just our over all consensus)
There are other suggestions and helpful tips in the books. Most all the recipes are straight forward, easy to follow and ingredients you can find at your local grocery stores. With the exception of those recipes that call for the above mentioned Trim Healthy Mama Baking Blend or Trim Healthy Mama Super Sweet Blend. Many recipes substitute sugar with Stevia. (Either you use it or alter the recipe, as I typically don’t use Stevia myself ) All these items and more can be found at their online store Trim Healthy Mama. That goes with the recipes outlined in the cookbook.
What I liked about the cookbook and meal plan was the no nonsense approach to healthy eating and creating recipes by swapping out certain higher calorie ingredients. I also liked that many of the recipes were what we were normally cooking.
Like any meal plan where your going to change your diet there will be grocery substitutions to be made. I think that the meal plans overall can be followed but, if you really want to use all of their recipes you’d have to either purchase or adapt for their specific ingredients, as mentioned above. I adapted the recipes and for their Chicken Jalapeno Popper Soup I’d leave out cream cheese, along with a few other things. We are big on soups and loved this section of the recipe book.
My group also agreed that there were plenty of recipes to pick from and concepts of the plan that were super useful. Although none of us are following the plan completely. We have tried and enjoyed a recipe or two. You can find some recipes on their website and Pinterest boards, if you’d like to check it out yourself for free. This might help you even further to see if it’s right for you. Also if I decide to follow the plan fully I will update the post or create an update with my personal findings.

Final thoughts on Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook and Meal Plan
Like any meal planning, slim down plan their are benefits and challenges, special ingredients or steps. Although, the concept of not restricting, finding the right formula for you or you and your family isn’t new, that is the part that makes total sense. What’s different is their formula, plan and substitutions are unique to their overall trim healthy plan. Their approach seems straight forward and useful on one hand if you are willing to make the changes, substitute with suggested key ingredients and learn the outlined plan. We hope that helps you decide if this is right for you.
I did receive the cookbook and meal plan book to review. I also received leaflets and recipe cards to share with participants of my group. These are my 100% honest opinions. I did not try to lose weight based off their cookbook or meal plan. Nor did any members in my group. I am just sharing facts that popped up through our reading, trying a recipe or two, discussion and overview of the books. I received this opportunity via Green Moms Meet and these opinions are mine alone, not a reflection of GMM.
