Seems like we are spending more time than ever in the kitchen. It’s that time of year. Packing lunches, cooking on a regular basis, and baking season getting closer. What’s new in the kitchen? I’ve been trying to meal plan more, and do food prepping to cut down time needed to make dinners. It’s tennis season, and I like to go see Sammie play when I get a chance. Since games end at dinner time I need to have dinners all ready to go.

I make several meals by doubling my crock pot of chicken tacos recipe. And use left over chicken for making a big pot of our favorite soup to last several days. Tacos, and enchiladas…..

Prepping foods in advance for soups, salads or making dinners really helps get dinner on table quickly. Are your kids in sports or have lessons too? Or working all day?

Ozeri 8 piece food storage set review

After all this fresh food prep, we just have to store the prep or meal in the fridge. Then I pull them out when needed.

We received a nice new set of food storage containers to try for free as a part of the US Family Guide group of bloggers in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions are my own.

This 8-Piece Food Set is made by Ozeri, has been great for keeping food fresh. Today I thought I’d share a few features about these unique food storage containers, and how I liked them after trying them.

How long can prepped foods stay in the fridge? I look to the source for food safety storage times I trust this set of guidelines the best. Having been in the food service industry, these are where we grabbed our food safe tips.

Here’s how these food storage containers work;

They come in multiple sizes. I love the large 21 cup size for putting my crock pot chicken into. I cooked 6 large breasts chicken in the crock pot, doubling my recipe. I stored it, and all the sauces in the 21 cup size.

One day we had chicken tacos, one day we pre-made chicken enchiladas, and the rest was used for my soup. If you have a larger family you’d probably go through that in 2 days vs. 3 but, you get the idea. When not using these containers store them inside each other by nesting them. With the lids on. No losing parts. Just make sure they are 100% dry before storing.

I prepped all my taco toppings, adding them to the other containers. I vacuumed out the air (shown below) then, I put them in the fridge until we needed the food for our dinners. I just used the 12 cup size for several days worth of veggies.

What does vacuuming out the air do? It helps reduce bacteria, and keep food fresher.

I prepped cheese for my tacos, and used the rest for the enchiladas.

I like to cook in batches. The prepping is done all at once, and the benefits are not having to do hours of cooking as often. And getting dinner on the table faster! You don’t have to do this to use the food storage containers. It’s just an option I like to use since I cook daily family meals.

We also like to make a big salads. We’ll use it for dinner and, put the rest into a food storage containers for lunches, and snacks. Keep the dressing on the side for both, it keeps salad fresher. Nobody likes a wilt-y salad.
