Check The Expiration Dates Before Baking, Cooking, and Using

  1. First, carefully cut the pumpkin.
  2. Pull out all seeds, and strings in the pumpkin. 
  3. Then bake with the rind on, until the pulp is soft at 350 degrees (covered with foil) *make sure your baking sheet is protected with aluminum foil or Silpat.
  4. Let cool, Peel the pumpkin off the rind. Use a fork, spoon, or knife. 
  5. Mash cooked pumpkin to make the puree (using a food processor) or an old-fashioned potato masher if you don’t have a food processor. 
  6. Let the puree cool before using it.
  7. Do you want to freeze the pumpkin puree? After the pumpkin is completely cooled, add it to freezer bags. Squeeze out excess air and seal the bag. Add it to the freezer until you are ready to use the pumpkin puree. Defrost it in the refrigerator beforehand. 
  • I like using these handy freezer bag holders when putting them into freezer bags for freezing the puree. Note: Cook time for pumpkin puree may vary depending on cut size, and shape. Roughly 45-60 min.
