Slow Cooker Beef Short Ribs Recipe (Oven or Grill)
These Fall-Off-the-Bone Slow Cooker Short Ribs are Sweet & Spicy! This recipe for beef short ribs flanken style is quick and easy to make in the slow cooker or Crockpot (or in the oven or grill) using 5 ingredients!
Note: You can use other beef short ribs for this recipe.

When it was cooking the smell was amazing and sharks were circling, lol. But, slow cooking short ribs is one of the best ways to get that fall-off-the-bone tender beef!

Beef Short Ribs Recipe
To serve them as appetizers set the beef short ribs with sauce onto a serving platter. Pour sauces into ramekins with extra dipping sauce in mild, habanero, and hot. Have spoons for serving the dipping sauces. Or let people pour it from the bottle if it’s a casual occasion or game day. Below is my dinner idea!
Beef Short Ribs Flaken Style
This is a cut of meat you can easily find at the local grocery store. For making and serving it for dinner I picked up sticky rice from the freezer section (ready in 5 minutes!) and fresh green beans. This makes the meal complete in no time flat!
Let’s Cook Sweet & Spicy Beef Short Ribs!
Ingredients
- 2 pounds of Beef Short Ribs Flanken Style
(3/4-1 pound per person) - 1 can of Pineapple Chunks
- Miller’s Banana Pepper Dip BBQ Condiment Mild
- Green Onions
- 1 Red, Yellow, and Orange mini bell peppers
- Olive Oil Spray (or other non-stick spray)
For pre-spraying the slow cooker or Crockpot.
Beef Short Ribs
Can you use other beef short-rib cuts?
Yes, you can use other types of beef ribs for this recipe. Note if they are thicker you may need to adjust and lengthen the cooking time. For boneless short ribs consider braising the beef before the steps below to add additional flavor (since they are boneless). And remember marinating them will enhance the flavors.
How To Cook Beef Short Ribs In The Slow Cooker
Instructions
- Pre-spray the slow cooker, add the beef short ribs (2 at a time side by side), salt and pepper them, and top each beef rib with Miller’s Banana Pepper Mild Sauce.
- Repeat Step 1 – Layer them, and add more sauce, until all the ribs are placed in the slow cooker.
- Add 1 cup of pineapple chunks with juice and pour over the top.
- Rinse and chop three green onions and slice the mini bell pepper (seeding them) add them on top, then lid the slow cooker.
- Cook on low for 6 hours or until the beef short ribs are tender and cooked.
Serve the beef short ribs on top of a scoop of sticky rice and add the cooked pineapple. Garnish with additional chopped green onions. We topped the beef short ribs with the habanero sauce after plating. Think of it as a type of Hawaiian Beef Short Ribs recipe.
For the vegetables, I used green beans. Or read the substitutions you can make below.

You can bake beef short ribs in the oven or grill beef short ribs (if you prefer).
- Bake them in the oven: Braise the short ribs, add them (with juices) to a Dutch oven or sheet pan, and cover them. Bake them using a low temperature of 325F Degrees. Until the minimum temperature is reached and the beef short ribs are tender.
- Can you bake them without braising them? Yes, add some liquid to the pan (to keep them moist) you bake them in, and slowly bake until done. at 300F-325F Degrees. For several hours.
- To grill them on medium heat: First marinate them for a few hours with the sauce of your choice (mild, habanero, or hot) When grilling flipping them frequently. After the beef ribs are grilled, add the pineapple and green onion for garnish. Or grill sliced pineapples in replace of chunks.
Beef Short Ribs will need at least an internal temperature of 145F-160F degrees. The optimal will be between 180F-205F, which will make them more tender.
Alternative Ingredients
Substitutions: Instead of Rice: Serve on top of mashed potatoes. Or next to gnocchi. Instead of green beans: make a salad or your favorite vegetable.
Substitutions: If you don’t like pineapple omit it. Use 1/2 cup of additional Miller’s Banana Pepper Sauce with half a cup of water to make 1 cup of liquid.
