DIY Place Cards – Woodland Themed Place Cards
I just love woodland themes. Do you? I decided to make DIY place cards for our table setting. I used my die-cutting machine to make this Cricut crafts project,I decided to make place cards for our family get-together, using my Cricut. I had been making place cards for our Thanksgiving table but, I decided to make these DIY place cards for our winter gathering.
When planning dinners do you enjoy having themes for your tablescapes? I might just have our holidays be a woodland theme this year.

One of the things that make paper-crafting so fun for me is using my Cricut die cutting machine for my crafting. It’s so easy to pull out and use. If you have a craft room you can just set it up to be used again and again! It’s perfect for designing and cutting projects just like this.
And now, to make projects like this even easier is the new Cricut Joy. It takes up very little space and is perfect for making labels, cards, place cards, banners, and more!

I also made a woodland banner with my Cricut but, I’ll have to share that on another day. For these place cards, I used a faux wood card stock and fall woodland paper that had acorns on the design.
Woodland Place Cards
As you can see I did two opposites with the paper designs. There are six of each kind.
How To Make Place Cards
Supplies used to make these Woodland Place Cards:
- Cricut Die-Cut Machines
- Cricut Craft Room Design Space (free download for online software, that anyone can use)
- Cricut Cartridge (for squirrels) Winter Woodland Cartridge
- Cricut Cartridge Plantin Schoolbook and also found in many other cartridges! (for the place cards) You can scroll through images in the Design Space and see free images to use as well as images .99 and up.
- Bone Folder
- Harvest Delight Card Stock By Recollections 12 x 12 Sheets or use your favorite scrapbook paper.
- Glue Stick (clear drying, extra strong)
If you don’t have a Cricut cutting machine yet, you can use Cricut’s Design Space to design and make any style place cards, print, and cut the designs by hand. It will take longer to cut them by hand vs. using a die-cutting machine (Cricut Maker or Cricut Joy) but, can be done by hand.
Doing the project by hand cutting? You will need card stock or quality scrapbook paper, (my favorite) paper cutting scissors and it’s handy to have a pencil, ruler, and paper cutter. And glue stick.
- I used Cricut’s Design Space to size designs and to use images.
- I then cut them with my Cricut. (It’s easy you just follow the prompts inside Design Space).
- I folded the card at the midpoint mark.
- Use a bone folder to create a smooth crease. When folding the paper in half to create the place card.
- Then used an extra-strong clear drying glue stick to bond the folded place card and squirrel together.
Here is how the back looks. Leaving a spot for names on the tails or add an additional plain paper or colored paper can be placed onto the back of the card for names if you wanted.
The insides of the place cards are blank too. These squirrels are ready for a gathering! How about you?
No matter which design you’d pick they would be a sweet addition to any table setting. For now or anytime during the holidays. Imagine a place setting with these all around. A lovely floral bouquet with branches, maybe some cut out wood trivets and a few ceramic woodland creatures set about the table.
